Terms of use
Terms
Effective and last updated: 25 August 2026
The English version is the official and authoritative version. Translations are provided for convenience only. If a translation differs, the English version applies to the extent permitted by law. This does not limit any mandatory rights under applicable law.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Use apply to the LEAF London website, account features and LEAF Board. LEAF is a volunteer-run London community. Contact the organising team at hello@leafmeetup.com.
By creating an account or using the Board, you agree to these terms and the Community Guidelines. Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. If you do not agree, do not create an account or submit content; you can still view public information where available.
2. Who can use an account
You must be at least 18 years old. Sign in using an account you are entitled to use, provide accurate information and keep access to your Google or Apple account secure. You are responsible for activity carried out through your LEAF session unless you promptly tell us that it has been compromised.
One person should not operate deceptive duplicate accounts, impersonate another person or evade a restriction. Organiser and moderator roles are assigned only by LEAF and must not be misrepresented.
3. Community conduct
Treat people with respect and follow the Community Guidelines. Do not use the service for harassment, hate, threats, sexual exploitation, doxxing, impersonation, fraud, illegal content, malware, spam, automated scraping, manipulation of votes or reports, or attempts to bypass security and moderation controls.
Do not post another person's private information or image without a valid reason and appropriate permission. If a safety concern requires personal details, use the reporting or contact route instead of publishing them.
4. Your posts, comments and images
You keep ownership of content you submit. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed to submit it and for making sure it is lawful and does not infringe another person's privacy, confidentiality, copyright or other rights.
Choose Public or Members only carefully. Public content can be viewed, indexed, quoted or copied outside LEAF. Members-only content is available only to signed-in members through LEAF, but members may still capture or share it. Do not use either setting for information that must remain confidential.
Listings, recommendations and offers must be honest and clear. Do not post prohibited, unsafe or misleading goods, services, jobs or housing opportunities.
5. The permission you give LEAF
You give LEAF a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, resize, display and deliver your content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, moderate and maintain the service. For content you mark Public, the licence also covers search indexing, structured data and machine translation so people can discover and read it in supported languages.
This permission ends when the content is deleted, except where a limited copy must remain temporarily in backups, safety records, moderation evidence or legal records, or where another person or service has already made an independent copy of public content. LEAF does not obtain ownership of your content or permission to sell it for unrelated advertising.
6. Translation and moderation technology
Public posts may be translated automatically. Translations can be incomplete or inaccurate and are provided for convenience; the original post controls when meaning matters. Do not rely on a translation for legal, medical, financial, housing, employment or emergency decisions without checking it.
Automated systems may screen posts and comments for possible safety issues. A flag is a prompt for human review, not a final finding. Organisers and moderators decide whether content is hidden, restored or otherwise handled under the Community Guidelines.
7. Reports, moderation and appeals
LEAF may hide or remove content, restrict features or suspend an account where we reasonably believe it breaches these terms or the Community Guidelines, creates a safety or legal risk, interferes with the service, or is necessary while a report is investigated. We will consider the context, seriousness, available evidence and previous conduct rather than relying only on an automated flag.
Where practical, we will explain a material moderation action. You can ask for a human review or make a complaint by emailing hello@leafmeetup.com. We may preserve limited records needed to review the decision, protect members and prevent repeated abuse.
8. Member listings and transactions
LEAF provides space for members to share listings and recommendations, but LEAF is not a party to agreements between members. Check the identity, condition, price, permissions and safety of an offer before relying on it. Never send money or sensitive documents merely because a post appears on LEAF.
Nothing in these terms removes rights or remedies you have under applicable consumer or other law. Report suspected fraud, unsafe offers or illegal activity to LEAF and, where appropriate, the relevant authority.
9. Events and external services
Event information is synchronised from Meetup, which remains the source for RSVPs, availability and last-minute changes. Google, Apple, Meetup, WhatsApp, Instagram and other linked services have their own terms and privacy policies. Your use of those services is governed by your agreement with them.
Event attendance may also be subject to venue rules, organiser instructions and the Community Guidelines. The website is not an emergency service; contact emergency services where someone is in immediate danger.
10. Availability and changes to the service
LEAF is run by volunteers and the online service is provided without charge. We aim to keep it useful and secure, but we cannot promise uninterrupted availability or that every item of member or external information is complete and current.
We may maintain, replace or retire features for security, legal, operational or community reasons. Where a change materially affects active members or their content, we will take reasonable steps to explain it and provide an appropriate route to retrieve or delete personal content where practicable.
Board comment and reply emails are optional. You can stop them in account settings or through the unsubscribe link without losing access to the Board. We may separately send essential account, security or legal service messages where necessary.
11. Ending use of LEAF online
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@leafmeetup.com. Tell us whether you also want your posts and comments removed; some safety, moderation or legal records may need to be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
LEAF may close an account after a serious or repeated breach, a safety risk, unlawful use or sustained interference with the service. We will act reasonably, consider an appeal and avoid removing access without explanation where doing so would create no additional risk.
12. Responsibility when something goes wrong
LEAF is responsible for loss that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss caused by another member, an external service, inaccurate user content, or circumstances outside our reasonable control where LEAF is not at fault.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any responsibility or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
13. Changes, law and resolving concerns
We may update these terms when the service or law changes. We will show the new effective date and bring material changes to members' attention before they take effect where reasonable. Changes will not remove rights already provided by law.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings available under the law that applies to you. Please contact us first so we have a fair chance to resolve a concern.
